Greetings and welcome to the Anglican Parish of Chatham,
Getting connected to a community of faith can often
be a difficult and overwhelming experience. To help with this process this letter will outline what is available for young
people in this parish: you will find the following information useful if you are under the age of twenty five, if you have
children of your own, and/or if you would like to get involved in youth ministry.
Let me begin by telling you a little
bit about myself. I was hired in May 2006 as part of an ongoing effort by this parish to minister to young people more effectively
and consistently. I have worked for the Anglican Church in some capacity since 2001, either as paid staff or as a volunteer
and have received some formal training for ministry at Taylor College of Evangelism. I also attended Atlantic Baptist University
where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a double major in Biblical Studies and History. I am married; however my
wife and I currently have no children of our own. Laura is a high school science teacher and is frequently involved in the
youth ministry of this parish.
There is a lot happening for youth in the Anglican Parish of Chatham. For children
in elementary school there is a youth group called Kingdom Kids that meets on Sunday afternoons. Youth
in high school can get connected with one of the small groups that meet in the homes of parishioners; these groups come
together for larger youth events and youth services.
In addition to these programs there are also Bible Studies
made available as needs and interests arise. In addition to this there are various events happening throughout the year and
there will be new ministries forming as we continue to identify and address the needs of this parish.
One
final thought; I believe that youth ministry is more than having groups and activities for young people, but ultimately seeks
to find ways to help young people grow in their relationship with the Lord and get involved in the life and work of the
Church. We are all on a journey and youth ministry ensures that young people do not journey alone.
Thank
you for taking the time to read. If you are looking for specific information regarding upcoming youth events please check
the events schedule on the parish website. If you are in need of more information on any of the groups or events, please contact
me at the Anglican Parish of Chatham by phone, appointment, or email. God Bless!
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Christopher Ketch
